- A: AnswerThe ecobee3 lite does not have Amazon Alexa built-in but can work with your other echo devices. It also doesn't come with a built-in occupancy sensor so you may want to consider buying a SmartSensor 2-pack to go with it. - A: AnswerIf you set up smart home/away, when the sensors detect motion it will set your temperature to your home profile so will keep the temp at that temperature as long as people are moving in the house. Also. If you have Apple devices you can control it from there by whose home or away. Other smart assistants can also be integrated. I was able to set mine up on 30+ old HVAC system. Very strait forward instructions and you can also call their support line if you have questions.

- A: AnswerI just recently purchased a Ecobee thermostat. And after a couple days of installing, I was told to set the thermostat to Auto. Which the Ecobee will do it's thing. So to answer your question. The ecobee will only start your heater, and will heat your whole system. But will shut off when the zones with the sensors that are occupied have reached the temperature that was set on the thermostat. Meaning the heater will stay on until the rooms with the sensors have reached its comfort setting. Even if the rooms without the sensors have not reached the comfort setting you set the thermostat to. That would be because the ecobee does not know the rest of the rooms temperature without the sensors. So if you have the smartsensor in your master bedroom and are only occupying that room. And not occupying the room that you have the thermostat. and you set the thermostat to 72 degrees. And the current temperature is reading 72 degrees in the bedroom and 69 in the room with the thermostat. Then your heater will not start because there's no sense in starting the heater if the room that is being occupied is already at it's comfort setting. Hope that helps

A: AnswerIt can work with any system. The trick is to call them and be prepared to be on the line for about 30-45 minutes. They will fix you right up.Answered by BFeagin
- A: AnswerYes, you can enable or disable it from the app. I have my ecobee right next to my Sonos which uses Alexa. No issues here.

Great addition to new home!
Ecobee Thermostat comes with everything you need! Instructions are easy to follow. The functions are great! And love the Follow Me function of the smart sensors! This has been great addition because I leave home and worry about the HVAC running while I'm gone. The Ecobee thermostat takes care of this. This can be done with your smartphone or with the Follow Me function of the thermostat. The follow Me function works with the smart sensor and the thermostat. They can determine whether or not the rooms are occupied or not. If the devices notice that no one is occupying the rooms. The thermostat does not turn on. And like wise if you have a schedule set up to turn down the temperature at certain time. But you're actually home. The smart sensor, if you have one in your bedroom, it will show motion to the thermostat so that it doesn't turn down the temperature and wake up to a cold home. There can be up to 32 smart sensors to your ecobee. Since purchasing the Ecobee Smart Thermostat. I've added 2 additional for the kids' rooms. And will add more as they go on sale. The speaker is good. Not something to replace your sound system if you have one. Alexa works great, I've been able to interact with Alex function from the other side of the room. And I'm not sure if it is something everyone else is experiencing. But when comparing the temperatures between my old thermostat and the Ecobee. There seems to be a 2 degree difference. Where the Ecobee comes up higher temperature then the old one. This will be something I'll have to test out with a third temperature reader to see which one would be more accurate. My main complaint is that when adjusting the temps directly from the thermostat doesn't always work. What I mean by that is that when I try to move the temps up/down. The temp number does not change. I sometimes have to keep moving all the way up the touch screen. Then adjust way higher/lower than desired. So sometimes it's better to adjust through the smartphone.

Best Ecobee yet!
I have another Ecobee upstairs (the 4th version) and decided to get the newest for the downstairs (5th). The Ecobee 5 is the best yet, not too much different then the 4, it’s bluetooth enabled. Big whop. It plays songs off my skype account and it’s Alexa enabled. I like the updated look and the newer temp sensor. It totally makes the house seem so much cooler, as the original thermostat we set at 74, we had to change the temp in here to 77 which still feels cool! What a difference it makes to have the sensor in the room we are actually spending time! Definitely get this, Google/Nest (even 3rd gen) stinks. I have had all three best systems, other then customer support, I don’t suggest getting a Nest. Too buggy and it would change setting all the time ON ITS OWN, even when I turned learning off and had a set schedule. It’s like someone took it and started playing with the temp somewhere around the world. Possibly hacked by someone. Ecobee makes me happy, and Alexa listens when I tell it to change. Happy purchase.

Works great, but senses the dog
It came with the best installation directions, that included videos for some of the steps, and interactive ways to figure out “how do I know?” questions for people inexperienced with electrical projects. As a single woman, these directions were the easiest to follow of any electrical projects I’ve done in the house. The optional faceplate was helpful to have, since the ecobee wasn’t big enough to cover up the old wall markings. The functionality of the program itself is pretty simple and easy to use. and it looks great on the wall. Also, ecobee offers an automatic delivery of furnace filters, synced with their thermostat records, so they get delivered when it’s time to replace. The cost is cheaper than I can find high quality filters in a home improvement store and they don’t appear to be cheap generic quality either. This offer is fantastic for someone like me who is always forgetting to buy filters ahead of time. Cons: I’ve noticed that the temperature readings are about 3-4 degrees higher than the readings that other thermostats in my house provide. For instance, the tower fan in my bedroom has a thermostat in it and when it reads the bedroom temp as 75, the ecobee sensor says the bedroom temp is 72. So I’ve had to make some modifications to my desired temperature settings to accommodate for that. Also, when using the smart home feature, I’ve noticed that the sensors think I’m home when I’m not because it senses the movement of my large 80 lb. dog wandering the house. So the HVAC runs while I’m not home, which is counterproductive to the point of using the smart home feature. It takes about 30 days before the eco+ smart home feature kicks in. I was expecting to enable the geofencing feature with the eco+ software, to fix the problem with the dog triggering the sensors while I’m not home, but after downloading the eco+ software, I haven’t yet found the geofencing option that I had read about prior to purchasing this brand of thermostat. So that is disappointing, but I’m still hopeful that the option will appear after I get my first usage report. I’ve had the thermostat for about 5 weeks. The eco+ has been enabled for 2 weeks now. Overall I am pleased with it. The house temperature does feel more even than it did with my old thermostat. But once I stop working from home and return to a normal work-life, the sensor issue with my dog could become more problematic. Time will tell.
