Details:Restaurant Week in Boston this week:
(expired)

Boston is having its semi-annual Restaurant Week this week and next week, giving some very good deals on some restaurants if you know where to look.

The Restaurant Week menus offer:
  • 3 Course Lunch for $20.08
  • 3 Course Dinner for $33.08
These deals are available at participating restaurants.

Restaurant week meals all include an appetizer, main course, and dessert. When you sit down at a participating restaurant, you must request the Restaurant Week Menu with limited selections. Some menus can be seen online here.

Unfortunately, lately most restaurants rather use Restaurant Week as a way to make a quick buck, rather than showcasing their best food at a discount. For example, some restaurants offer a Restaurant Week dinner selection which would normally would cost around $33 if you paid regular price on a regular evening, so their Restaurant Week menu selection priced at $33 really is nothing special. So be sure to check a restaurant's menu online before venturing out to find a great deal, because they may not have as good of a deal as you would expect.

Some restaurants not participating in Restaurant Week may have some promotions.

Sites which have Boston's Restaurant Week details and menus: Examples of hot deals in Boston:
  • Sage in the North End - reservations recommended
  • 29 Newbury - very good food, excellent cocktails
  • Smith & Wollensky - great steaks, in a castle. A 3-course lunch would normally cost around $25, and 3-course dinner around $50, so paying $20 for lunch or $33 for dinner is a hot deal. They are rumored to also offer some of their better wine selections with lunch for a few dollars extra.
  • Fleming's Steakhouse - great steaks. A 3-course dinner normally costs over $50.
  • Davio's Northern Italian - very good pasta, great atmosphere, excellent service, but very limited Restaurant Week menu
  • Top of the Hub - Lunch only, good food and best view of the city. Their pricey food tastes average at best, but $20 for a 3-course lunch is still a great deal for the view.
  • Sibling Rivalry - a fancy meal, great deal with lots of choices on their Restaurant Week menu. Their 3-course dinner would normally cost around $40, so $33 is a pretty good deal.
  • Tangierino - great Moroccan food, good value for the price.
  • Tasca - not participating in restaurant week, but offering a bottle of wine for $4.
All participating restaurants should have busier crowds than normal. Reservations are recommended to avoid waiting for a table at peak time (5:30pm to 8pm). Customers who show up after 8pm for dinner or after 1pm for lunch may have little or no wait.
