The Windows XP model has an upgrade to XP Professional for $20 more, well worth the upgrade.
Comes with only 1GB of memory, but RAM is very cheap to upgrade these days.

Unfortunately the power supply in the Inspiron desktop computers cannot handle the powerful "double wide" graphics cards, such as a Geforce 8800GTS.
Older model Dimension XPS 410 desktops (also known as Dimension 9200) can handle those cards and can be found by searching for XPS 410 in the Dell Outlet for about $400.
If you choose to buy one of those, you can purchase upgrades separately and install yourself, such as a Quad Core Q6600 CPU for about $200, 2GB memory for about $20, and a Geforce 8800GTS 320MB card for about $110.

- Logitech G5 Laser Mouse for $40
A Blue Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse with 2000dpi is $40 with free shipping.
This is a very good deal, since every other store sells the Blue version of this mouse for $45 to $50, and it has mostly good reviews.
Even Ebay sellers are bartering their G5's for over $50 after shipping fee.
The mouse's very sensitive laser and its adjustable weight cartridge are great features.
Its middle wheel click is useless because it is almost impossible to do a wheel click without spinning the wheel forward or backward, but probably not an issue for someone who doesn't need a middle button click.
After an hour of using this mouse, we found the adjustable sensitivity dpi buttons really do improve precision in games and applications, and is a huge improvement over a standard mouse.
For example, moving the mouse constantly back and forth between 2 side-by-side monitors is easier using normal or high sensitivity setting.
Doing something with pinpoint precision, such as touching up red eye in photos with Photoshop or lining up the cross-hairs of a sniper rifle in a game are easier when lowering the dpi.
If your current mouse moves by rolling a ball underneath and you are annoyed when it gets dirty and sticks, definitely look at this wired laser mouse, a great value for the price.
